The Ripon Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. John C. Hughes, will perform a free concert as part of its 2016 Spring Tour on Tuesday, March 15 at 7:30pm, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1750 N. Calhoun Road, Brookfield.
The Ripon Chamber Singers is a by-audition-only ensemble of Ripon College students, directed by assistant music professor John C. Hughes. Their concert will consist of unaccompanied choral works in nine different languages. Their concert program lists classic choral works such as Palestrina’s Sicut cervus (Like as the hart) and Randall Thompson’s Alleluia, but also lesser-known compositions such as Rautavaara’s Suite de Lorca, and a newly commissioned work by contemporary composer Dale Trumbore.
Calvary Lutheran Church, a congregation of the North American Lutheran Church, hosts the Chamber Singers for this performance. Admission is free, but a freewill donation is requested to offset the costs of this tour.
