Flowering orchids of all shapes and sizes will be on display at “Fall in Love with Orchids,” the 36th annual show and sale of the Wisconsin Orchid Society, Sept. 13 and 14, at the Mitchell Park Domes, 524 S. Layton Blvd. Show and sale hours are Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Exhibits include award-winning flowering orchid plants, pottery, photographs, and other orchid-related items. Members of the Orchid Society will be on hand to answer questions. Items available for purchase include favorite orchids, pots, books, potting medium, and T-shirts.
Presentations are scheduled both days. Saturday, Kristin Uthus will present “What Makes Japanese Orchids Special” at 1 p.m., and Bruce Efflandt will present “Corsage Making” at 2 p.m. On Sunday, Mary Stewart will present “How To Properly Repot Your Orchid” at 1 p.m., and Efflandt will repeat “Corsage Making” at 2 p.m.
Vendors at the show include Anything Orchids, B&H, Goin’ to Pot Orchids, J&L Orchids, Leo Schordje, Natt’s Orchids, New World Orchids, Orchid Trading Company, Porter’s Orchids, and Sunprarie Orchids.
Additional exhibitors include the Batavia Orchid Society, Eastern Iowa Orchid Society, Illinois Orchid Society, Orchid Growers Guild–Madison, Claire Rojohn and Walter Crawford, and the Wisconsin Orchid Society.
Admission to “Fall in Love with Orchids” is included with regular admission to The Domes. Admission for adults age 18 and over is $7; Milwaukee County Seniors with ID, persons with disabilities, students of any age with ID, and youth age 6-17 are $5. Children 5 and under are admitted for free. The Wisconsin Orchid Society welcomes new members. The group meets monthly in the Milwaukee area.
