Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) is excited to announce that Contemporary American rock musician Willy Porter will be the headline act at the Second Annual Lake Moon Festival on Sat., Aug. 8 on CUW’s Mequon campus.

Porter is a Mequon native who released his first album Leaving Tomah Home in 1988. His popularity rose in 1994 with the release of his critically acclaimed album Dog-Eared Dream which led to his touring as an opening act for artists including Tori Amos, Rickie Lee Jones, and the Cranberries.

“We are thrilled to feature Willy Porter as the headlining act for Lake Moon Festival. He is a dazzling guitar player and singer/songwriter who personifies the Lake Moon Festival brand. Known all over the world for his truthful prose and astonishingly layered rhythms, he and his band will perform songs from his tenth album, Human Kindness, as well as his classics that have been filling venues for decades,” said Lisa Liljegren, festival spokesperson and director of community and corporate relations at Concordia.

Porter will perform from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. as part of the Festival which will take place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The group Life in a Tree will perform from 4 p.m. to 5:25 p.m. followed by Jayme Dawicki from 5:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Performers will be using a spectacular stage provided by KNE (K-Nation Entertainment), resulting in a truly first-rate experience.

The Lake Moon Festival is a free event for the public, including a 5K race, food, bluff tours, a Plein Air art competition, family activities, fireworks, and much more.
